THE OTHER RULES
How to be in Love with the World (and her)
Contents:
Introduction
There are as many rules in the world as there are men. Each genetic code is in fact a book of rules subtly managing the differences and oneness at the same time of being for all existing. Things go right, things go wrong, always one goes for the rules that by evolution are always 'the other rules'. Time and again the genetic codes are changed by the pressure of adaptation. Always the rules are upgraded for better management so that in fact the rules change in outlook and seem to be different. Despite of always having other rules, loving to adapt to the changing world, there are themes that recur. These themes concern the nature of time, space and matter; God, man and woman; politics, religion and science; fathers, sons and the purity of spirit; differences, oneness and the cultures abridging. Things seem to go in three having a soul aware of the tri-polarity of superego, ego and the dominance of the lower drive. As the world to that seems to consist of four basic cultural options that tend to be in opposition and conflict, the recurrence of the other rules maintains the complete of the reality: North America, Europe, and Australia seem to run on the scientific method, the Middle-East and India on the religious approaches of Lordship, the japanese/asian continent runs on the supreme of politics and Africa and South America on the rhythm of natural living. Not being able to live square to the complete of reality as one is proud of one's own and negligent to the other culture, still the world runs on the triangular pyramid of these four basics of mankind (pict.). We always see reality in three living four alternatives. Therefore the plea of the other rules is to become aware of oneself: to the soul of one's own conscientious contribution to the complete whole of our worldculture balancing political, religious, scientific and natural values. We cannot live without the spark of consciousness we individually are ourselves in the midst of this pyramid of worldculture. Each has his own unique nature and contribution in this full cultural complexity. The Other Rules, stressing the importance of soul and the order of time, are dedicated to the civilian population of the whole world longing for unity and peace at the one hand and respect for the differences of culture at the other hand. With a world living in peace and harmony the rules of the other person, other culture and other time need to be respected. This book is an attempt to sketch a concept of worldorder that can change and still stay the same. Many may recognize their own religion, politics, scientific theory or natural drive in it. To the writer it has been a pleasure to serve the ongoing spiritual soul minding its adaptation to time and place in the light of euro-american scientific ideals, middle-east/indian lordship, asian politics, and the latin/african ecstasies of natural rhythm.*
Warning: study these rules one by one. To consider this book as a running narrative is a mistake. To study more than a couple of rules at a time is certainly ill advice.

z) Make a rule and break a rule in guard of your integrity.
a) As an adult try not to sleep for more than six hours.
An adult should not sleep for more than six hours. Children sleep considerably more. They lack experience and personal order and get quickly exhausted. Sleeping for more than six hours dulls the nervous system and gives rise to depression and other mental disorder (pict.). People who sleep too much are more susceptible to illusion, need to compensate more as a consequence and have thus less resistance against stress. Compensation goes at the cost of synergy; the energy meant for cooperation and coordination. Adults who sleep for seven, eight hours or more should train themselves in social skills and learn to cling to an orderly life.
b) Always relax as much as you can.
In a relaxed state one is more aware to the environment and to oneself. Action concentrates the mind within a certain focus of attention. This is needed to do work. Even during work though, one should, so to say, regularly step back to become aware of the greater context of one's activity. Also important is to minimize the use of energy for optimal efficiency. Another expression of this rule is: don't overdo, keep cool, stick to the necessity.
This rule implies the greater importance of reflection. Being less focused to the body and more to the spirit puts a greater stress on the ability to organize one's thought. Only a conscientious person is really capable of a 'cool' style of life. For neglect there is no positive and quiet spirit. A negative and restless spirit means dissatisfaction and disorientation. When e.g. one is hungry and does not know what to do, first proper action should be taken as to alleviate the primary needs of the body and the person in his status (pict.) and orientation (pict.) in life. All healthy reflection is based on this basic security. War for instance is to be recognized as a vicious circle: because of lacking security there is conflict, and because of conflict there is a lack of security.
c) Always keep your mind busy.
De mind should always be focused on the goal of action which can be defined as service to the underlying order. A wandering mind may discover extraneous influences and affairs, but such speculation open for intuitive suggestion should be submitted to the order of one's life. The hierarchical principle should work internally in awareness of the importance of one's independence and personal choice. Dependence on outside authority will lead to conflict with the mature option. One might not be completely mature in all walks of life, but the option is always there. To break the rules can be considered as an appeal for outside authority as any citizen might remember e.g. with police-intervention. But adolescents biologically lacking maturity, will have to submit to parental authority. The parent is responsible for youth up to the age of 21. Uprooted youth should receive proper guidance from a guardian service or be put under legal custody.
d) Always think for the sake of the soul.
The underlying order pertains to the reality of the soul which can be defined as the conscientious remembering true spiritual self. One should accept the fact that the body or false, say temporal self, is governed by the spirit and the spirit is governed by the soul (pict.). The order of the soul is defined as God to which there are many names and definitions. As far as the impersonal is concerned one can say that all of the realigning about the soul is stemming from a concept of celibate order representing the wisdom of ancestral holiness. For this purpose one can study holy scriptures of preferably different kinds to ascertain one 's mature option. With one-sided study to this one is caught within one school of thought while the healthy psyche demands a freedom of choice. It is not bad to have chosen, it is bad to be denied freedom of opinion as laid down by democratic law. What is considered good and bad is simply defined linguistically and fixed by legislation. One has to answer to the demands of ones culture. Disagreement about this necessitates political action. This might eventually lead to social conflict and international war. Thus can be concluded that the basic security of proper law and order is of prime importance for a successful life and world-order. Success can be defined as general public contentment with existing law and order containing a low interest in further political action. Since normal non-political individuals cannot make the law themselves, only the concept of personal order is of further relevance.
Rules for personal order are thus considered as service to the soul and God irrespective of one's religious preference. Personal order amounting to compulsive disorder implies an alienation from the soul: in that case the rules pertaining to the soul should be checked.
e) Lead a regulated life.
There are a few important points to remember here. One should balance; that is to say, rest and activity, social and personal interests, work and leisure should not repress one another. Repression is the prime cause of unconscious action and cultural fall-down. There are always at least two sides to the material truth and mental health demands respect for both. So in general one can say that twelve hours of rest and twelve hours of activity form a good basis for the division of the day. This gives us 6 hours of rest in total to be spent in intervals throughout the day. Normally after sleep and before breakfast one has an hour to get started. During work in the morning as well as in the afternoon it's wise to have a break of half an hour. This leaves one and a half hours around lunch- and diner-time , with one hour to get at ease for sleeping completing the six in total. Work can be done for maximally twelve hours which necessitates further balancing. There is work for the maintenance of the body and mind and work in the care for others (pict.). Provided a fully emancipated society where the autonomy of each mature individual is accepted, one ideally spends 6 hours for the personal body and mind (shopping, cooking, cleaning, reading) and six hours for the others (duty of labor, socializing, appreciating the media together). Besides such a daily routine there should be days of rest to secure contentment, days of study to secure education and days of celebration to secure the need for festivity. Lacking this one will find oneself dropping out of work and society, losing one's education and ability to learn and losing control in breaking out of order lacking festivity (see tables). In regard of repression about time it should also be taken into account that politically fixed standard time ,'work-time', constitutes another consciousness as the awareness to the regularity relative to the position of the sun (pict.).
f) Do your own duty and not that of others.
This is a tricky point. Nothing as destructive as jealousy and confusion about this. A good division of labor demands clearly defined social roles and according duties (pict.). A housewife or house-man has to work for the maintenance of the children and the home. An outdoors working individual has to maintain the social position of professional orientation and status. But these things are dynamic. They come in phases and also intermingle. Attachment gives rise to a lot of trouble during the inevitable transitions. One cannot always be a student-bachelor, a married spouse, a reorienting withdrawing person or a detached upholder of tradition and old-age wisdom. Also professionally one can change orientation from the intellectual studious, to the governing, to the enterprising and finally toiling vocation. Still one needs to be clear as well as for oneself as for the other, about what one is doing. Without this there will be unwanted confusion and conflict. One has to do one's own thing and one needs to be clear about it. That is the meaning of this rule.
For an example one may think of the order typical for a planet: the month on this planet takes 30.5 days as part of a year that counts four seasons to the sun. Thus we do respect our nature and earth and do we have duties with it. But if we speak of a commercial labor-week of seven days which not by leaping are linked to that solar month, nor to the lunar month, to what to we belong then with that regularity? Thus is one with an other rhythm oriented on a planet one doesn't even know. Thus is one estranged, if not engaging cosmically disturbed, with something which might a be natural rhythm but which is strange to one's own planet, and waging wars with blaming one another that backward attitude won't be of any avail, thus anyone may know.
g) In case of conflict over rulership always resort to the impersonal order.
Things need to be settled, one has to cooperate. Because of this one is confronted with the expertise and authority of others. Not understanding the why and how of each others position and duty, troubles ensue. As a consequence lots of people get disappointed and estranged. Without consent and agreement people take to unqualified action and the general quality of life diminishes in a more and more chaotic society. In this situation people, out of frustration develop resentment against authority, especially across generations, and autocratic rulership begins to reign with injustice and rebellion against the others.
For the sake of order one cannot say that one rule is better than the other. There is conflict over rulership, and one cannot choose between fighting against and fighting against. Either side gives the same problem. So there is no other solution but to resort to the impersonal. No person will do but the mature person to himself having internalized the diverse authorities. He cannot propose himself as the solution but he can propose the conclusion of the teachings. Putting oneself up leads inevitably to the proof of one's imperfection and limitations. Resorting to the impersonal is then the only practice left over, in fact consisting of positive identifications with the personal. What is important is not to wage against other people, not to become an heretic of whatever kind, but to be convinced of one's order. One can be critical about other forms of order but with the constructive proposition of one's own this is amenable.
h) Always try to adapt to the environment.
There are two options: the expression of one's own identity and the necessity to conform to the others. In society this generally gives rise to the culture of the formal uniform at the one hand and the culture of individualism at the other characterized by free association and free expression. The dictum of the latter is: thou shall differ, no greater sin than the uniform. Even in the highest circles it is absolutely forbidden to wear the same neck-tie or the same dress. Each grey suit of e.g. the politician is from another tailor and another cloth. Informal dress dominates formal society which in itself is an inconsistency. Individualism can be recognized as a fear of formal identification or a cultural identity-crisis. The fear of the uniform evidently arises from warfare where the military show nothing but the horror of the formal uniform. But It is still the uniform ending the war too. The uniform we absolutely need at least for police and other agents of control. So irrationality and the psychology of trauma seems to reign in this society. It is nice to have your own dress and be informal most of the time, but it is not nice not to be recognized and have no formal relationship confirmed (pict.). Then what to adapt to if we no longer delve in the informal but sincerely express our need for formal identity? To distinguish between what is becoming or not is not enough to answer this question. One cannot escape from defining formal order. This is the true meaning of adaptation. Without it, what to adapt to?
i) Take care of the basic needs.
Basis needs are food, shelter, clothes, law and order. There are secondary needs as security, love, happiness, contentment, excitement, diversion, exploration and innovation. All these are forms of selfrealization, the common denominator of all human activity. God won't grow houses, clothes and books on trees. For God we may be naked apes in a fools paradise. For the Lord and His representatives, whatever be His name, we would endeavor to be somewhat like Him: detached but cultured, self-aware, but not egoistic. Thus religiously there seems to be a command of humanity in short defined as soulful non-possesiveness. This seems to be the denominator of the religious need. Politically we are in need of our freedom of expression, organization and participation. This secondary need is in one word called democratic, independent of the form of state being republic or monarchic.
For the arts and the sciences the need is doubtful. To be recognized is also psychologically understood. Scientific progress costing billions gives no guarantee of happiness and even offers a risk of war shifting the balance of power. Art and science are more realistic though but belong to the secondary needs of selfrealization which only in case of emergency and service in the interest of the primary needs can be called basic. From this the intellectuals, clergy and enterprising artists have big drawers with secret solutions in case ... we do not know.
j) Always set work before the profit.
One of the most important rules is to work for the work and not the outcome. Success or failure may not be of any influence on the factual work that has to be done as a duty. There are times of trouble, and times of elation. Whether it is summer or winter, important is that one continues to work. Because we tend to depend upon the stimulation and reinforcement of others, we also tend to refrain from work when the other no longer personally cares about us. Since each and everyone has to follow his and her own way sooner or later we have to continue on our own course. Therefore it is more important to find ones duty than to have this or that outcome as a condition. Another point of interest here is the definition of work. Unemployment is a relative notion. Everyone not doing the job I do is not employed as such. I have my own values about what and how to work. Work done in regard of the soul seems futile for the one running after the profit. On the other hand is going for the profit exactly the way to have no effect in the eyes of the one living for the soul. If one defines success as contentment with one's preferred activity, profitable or not, then the world is liberated from the slavery of its opposing compulsions.
k) In case of anger: seek isolation.
Sooner or later everyone gets angry upon frustration. No one is without desire, and thus no one is free from disappointment. To withdraw is the ideal strategy for mourning. For the other one has to keep front and integrity. One mustn't let oneself down. Loyalty to the soul is number one. It is the material thing of winning or losing that tempts into the trap of the ego saying I want this and I want that. A possessive attitude does more harm than swallowing some pride.
Isolation is a thing not to be feared. It is the ultimate solution for all problems. Once accepting one's fundamental aloneness in life there is no loneliness anymore: the other is found in one's heart. Being angry clouds this vision of reality. One cannot and must not drive the other from one's heart. There one has to learn to forgive and forget. Remember the good things of the others and fight against the delusion of the eternal negative missing the other physically. It is the biological drive of the body that may not lead astray. As stated above: satisfaction is found in the dutiful, not in the material effect itself.
l) In rage never attack people.
Once the train of anger is running it is difficult to stop. It is not so easy to let go instantly and have no clouds in the sky anymore. They disappear slowly. When thunder and lightning are storming, people should be on guard against destruction. Then let the storm bring down a tree or a shed. As long as the house is on solid ground and properly founded, the walls won't tumble so easily. Likewise one's personality is to be solid and properly founded in the decision not to harm anyone. It is o.k. to fight with people and show some emotion. But it is bad to give in to attack and destruction. Violence can be a necessity of selfdefence, so: don't attack. Fight with people and not against people.
Practically this means that trust is not lost on the expression of anger in a rage as long as there is no factual attack. Therefore it is words that do the fighting. Physical fighting is the end of reason and can also end the relationship. Even a hopeless attempt to deal with words is in the service of reason. One doesn't have to be reasonable to serve reason. Delirious gibberish is also for the spirit. Nobody believes everything that is said or thought, but everybody believes in physical pain and the necessity to escape from it. Thus, as long as anger turns into words one can stay, when anger turns into physical attack, the game is lost when the previous rule (1k) is neglected. War is the result of the inability to withdraw.
m) Always take responsibility for your actions.
One can do a lot of stupid things. To get experienced this is even inevitable. The question is who would be to pay for the error. The basic principle is that each is responsible for his own actions. Also non-action is action. Doing nothing can also cause a lot of misery. The profit motive always wants to blame the other which is a disease of material life. Without the rules we cannot solve this problem. Engaged in material action only God is the final creditor and all people are guilty. We owe to the order and not so much to one another. Things always go wrong, since material form is not eternal. Each rule is in demand of the other. Rule 1g implies the impersonal as an outcome in conflict over questions of guilt. When something is not in order, the cause might be that our idea of order itself is not in line with the dictates of the soul. To the concept of order decisions can be taken for the benefit of everyone. Such conclusions can be worked at. Simply to condemn each other won't lead to any other outcome but grief and alienation. It is important to come to conclusions that lead to work for the sake of general progress. Without it one victim creates the other and in such smoldering discontent problems are never really solved with the continual result of recurring warfare.
n) Try to avoid collecting and keeping.
Possesiveness is a great stumbling block. It is the disease called desire. From possessions one becomes possessed: there is never enough. But you can't get the whole world under control and call it your own. The more you acquire the more you realize this. To have your house as a furniture showroom annex museum for modern technology, annex library and collection of art etc. is a hopeless endeavor. Materialism is a mental illness in the category of the schizoid. Everyone knows that happiness cannot be bought. All you may hope for is a world that is accessible so that, although not the owner, one can be a visitor. The more we want to own, the less accessible our culture becomes. Thus the real question is: how to get rid of this hindrance (pict.) and have an open culture. End of the twentiest century this is still science fiction. There is an internet connecting everyone to everyone approaching the ideal of an open culture. But still everything has to be bought and saved. Then we are still like the Neanderthaler who knew nothing but hunting and gathering. Homo Sapiens is really a different kind. We are to know each other and not to hunt and posses. So by means of state or private enterprise information banks have to be maintained and made accessible to all. It is not possible nor satisfactory to continue on the line of acquiring and keeping. Ultimately television, telephone, radio, stereo etc, books and assorted computer programming, must be handled with one window on the world available to all people.
o) Be loyal to your teachers.
It is not about names, but about content. Of course, a name is a code that gives access to a certain field of knowledge. But a name is also falsehood: it directs to the material body, and no Lordship keeps the same body. It is no use to cling to this or that bodily concept. Each body of knowledge refers to a way of learning, a school. They form pyramids of hierarchy and access becomes increasingly difficult at the bottom of the hierarchy. Pyramids collapse as belief is exhausted and more needs to be invested than there will be returned. This bodily aspect of teachers and schools belongs to the battlefield of the ego. Ego wages war in the delusion of the power to control and enjoy. Solution to this problem must be and can be the superposition of the impersonal order. It is not to deny the person or the authority, it is to have all subjected to the reality man can't change. If we burn down the whole planet, the earth will still revolve. It is the one revolution that defeats all others. To recognize its order and respect it in its full relativity is a mission of reform, as for the twentiest century man still clings to an ancient Roman calendar and a contorted concept of clock time being a far cry from the natural situation. Loyalty to teachers means to be loyal to the source (pict.) of teaching in the first place: the cosmic reality and soul of all the worlds finding peace with order in the form of time (pict.).
p) Graduate and be your own boss.
It is good to go to school and subject. It is bad to make it an eternal duty. It is good to change from school to school, it is bad not to have learned to manage your own. So each man and woman want baby's by nature to form their own school of education, although it is not always clear who the teacher is. The great misery of religion and politics is the inability of internalizing the school and integrate that learning with other options of management. This is the real problem: the constant necessity to adopt new information and integrate it. First there is the problem that advanced learners tend to learn less in the practice of their own conclusions, second there is the problem of evolution. How can a school progress without getting uprooted all together. Things go wrong with the transference of knowledge: books become unreadable because of specialization and teachers refuse to accept newcomers with another adaptation but their own. So repeatedly the same phenomenon recurs: people form their own school and authority. This is natural and must be tolerated. This rule implies live and let live: an ill school won't survive the test of time; it normally doesn't need much fighting against. Remember: all attempt to reason can be recognized as service to the soul (1l);as long as a school is there for teaching and not for ruling, each graduate may decide for himself if he learned anything more than to be patient.
q) Respect the authorities and the laws of your country.
Actually there should be no comment on this rule. It is exactly the desire to constantly amend on the rules why we get into trouble. But the times are changing, not just this century but for ever. Rules need to be adapted and we need to adapt to the rules. This is inevitable. We cannot fix everything and expect it to stay so. After each painting there will be a new one, after each bible a new story of divinity etc. Life goes on and the disease mankind suffers seems to consist of resistance against change more than of suffering the dynamic of material form.
Important here is to have some loyalty to the inheritance of law and order. It is cheap to be a rebel and go against all of 'the system'. To say no is easy, to say yes a bit more difficult. In nature expansion and differentiation is normal. The art is not to lose the soul, the remembrance of what was added to. To stay connected is the mission, whatever novelty we embark upon. Twentiest century television e.g. is like a fast dream. What do we remember, standing up to our own?
r) Always dress, shave and clean appropriately.
By means of dress, people express their identity. To settle for order in this one has to distinguish between formal and informal dress being not liberated and liberated in service to the order of the rules of some soul saving tradition. Thus there are four kinds of dress: F(ormally) L(iberated), F(ormally N(ot liberated), I(nformally L (iberated) and I(nformally) N(ot liberated) (pict.). IN-group dressing is fashionable and casual clothing. Loose from tradition these people are considered non-liberated. IL-clothing is non-uniform clothing according to the tradition with hats, neck-ties, suits, frocks etc. These people want to be traditional and neat and are all considered to be informally liberated in their traditional love for the individual. FN-people are dressed in uniform: the military, the police, classical musicians, priests etc are considered non-liberated carrying the cross of the old roman-political uniform of time defying the individual. Those who are dressed up formally in service to the order of the rules can express their identity of professional orientation and civil status e.g. by means of color and a band around their neck showing the degree of commitment (pict.) to the order. This latter dress-code is a proposition given as an option here, being science fiction to the twentiest century. The division to professional orientation (pict.) and civilstatus (pict.)is traditional while the uniform is then subjected to the diversity of the individual and the alternate order of time in service of the soul. Thus the consideration as being liberated to classical formality. One may express one's commitment to one's profession in color: dark grey/black suits for academics and priests in the role of advisor/counselor to the interest of the soul, dark-red for the one's in civil service: politicians, officials representing the government in service to intelligence. Light-grey suits for the people in trade and commerce in service to the mind of the order and beige suits for the laboring people in service to the interest of the physicality of the order. The individual status of being student/bachelor, married, withdrawn and detached can dress up with shirts in respectively green for the students, white for the married, blue for the withdrawn and orange for the detached. The level of commitment can be expressed by honorary signs hanging from a band around the neck or collar of the shirt showing the color of one's professional orientation. By the head of the (state)order, or by rule of time, people can be rewarded with honorary signs in the form of e.g. a six-pointed star (pict.) in silver or gold for participants in the order with respectively primal and enduring merit. Of course this is all optional and cannot be laid down by law: no one can be forced to belong to the order nor be forbidden to act as if belonging to. Social control will work its way to distinguish between actors and originals.
The symbol of the order as a six pointed star refers to the fact that dividing the day and the year in twenty four (one time, one division) gives six star days to mark six two-month-seasons of sixty star days (see table). The whole of time (the celestial sky) divided by six is thus shown as a star (in contrast with the known David-star the indication of the two triangles can be left out keeping the open structure). As to shaving and cleanliness, the positive attitude towards sex (also from the withdrawn and detached) is expressed by being clean-shaven and having the hair short-cut (except for the ladies who have long hair to enhance their sexual attraction). Abstinence can be shown by cultivation of beards and mustaches or short hair for ladies. Cleanliness is mandatory as the most ancient tradition of godliness and civilization.
s) Try to be expert from intuition.
Of course almost everything can be found in books. Hardly any rule or statement in this collection is new. It is, although, impossible to name the source of each idea. It is not practical, not wanted and against the rule of being one's own boss to play hide and seek behind the back of outside authority. I can err, I can change. Rules change, expressions change, symbols change. From the proposition laid down in the previous rule the final practice may widely differ. Man proposes, God disposes. It is just the game one is playing; the way one tries to do one's best, to be an expert, to be loyal etc. It is and stays just a game that people like to play or not. Intuition is of prime importance to the concept of freedom. Doubting everything by the tradition of natural science is done in service to the soul which is then given free reign by means of intuition (pict.). The rules are known by experience and one doesn't follow much better by mechanically learning them. The rules shown here merely form a checklist to refer to or meditate upon; they are not meant to be taught in school. There are enough schools breaking one's intuition in their plea for the dependency of the pupil. Computers make fine tutors and schools may be reformed by learning from love. Clouding personal intuition is a right out danger to the maintenance and development of intelligence.
t) Try to cooperate as much as you can.
This is the most ancient rule for civilized manhood and human sanity. The insane do not cooperate just as the uncivilized. Wild nature can be attractive and to go crazy can be a relief. To play the animal though is not the definition of society. Unfortunately we must check our envy with king lion and follow the rules assuring proper cooperation and coordination. Nothing can be accomplished without it but war and destruction. In case of being occupied by foreign forces one might regress to the animal state of using animalistic violence for selfdefence and survival. But forming a normal civil threat to individual freedom one has to agree and cooperate to the definition of defense. To the liberty in the formal order of recognized societal membership ('to have a star') there are 32 possible groups of identification (the immature aspirant 'not having a star' not counted) (pict.). Each group will define its own defense and act to that as far as the law-books permit.
Even the withdrawn have to cooperate in order to have their own place, their food and their adaptation secured. Problems arise when cooperation cannot be found. These people drop out of society and form an insult on the one hand and a challenge for formal order at the other hand. Each man is valuable and because of economy or justice this may not be denied. It doesn't have to cost money or to happen outside penal institutes. In fact formal liberation means to have the capital at your service because of the dominating logic of the order. Once there is cooperation in formal order money is not the problem. To formal liberation even ownership loses its meaning since service to the order is the philosophy. Of course every identification group has its own material management system of credit and provision of goods. It is to the government to settle everything to justice and order to protect private interests of groups and individuals.
u) Guard your personal privacy as your life.
Society can be an animal devouring the freedom of the individual. Leaders become the slave of their own system and spouses become the victim of their own commitment. This is a basic problem which can be solved by respecting and caring for personal privacy. To have a place of one's own is a blessing. Not to be disturbed by noise, stench or unwanted commerce etc. has become an ideal to work for. In the old days there was lots of land uncultivated open for retreat in the freedom of nature. This type of escape is less and less possible in an overcrowded world where every suitable stretch of land is used for agriculture and cattle. To share a front-door in an apartment-building e.g. is a less private solution, having one's guests mingled with strangers ringing the same door. To share a few square meters of land with hundreds of people in a sky-scraper is certainly an unprecedented concept of vertical space-time-awareness to which there might be more disease than private sanity. How far can one go going private?
What is sure is that personal privacy and the mature position need one another. How to manage your own if you don't get your own? A society failing in this might not get over its mental condition called neurosis and collapse in unwanted psychopathology. Therefore privacy must be safeguarded as one's life. The more people on top of each other the more urgent the urge for going private. Crime in big city's can be fought remembering this rule. Why attack the other if each can have his own?.
v) Stand up for your rights assertively.
Assertion means to declare, to exert influence. It is a hot debated issue: what are we serving in our assertion. Religion worries about heresy and science about untruth. Politics are worried about cooperation. Together it means that everyone is anxious about truthful cooperation for the sake of the soul. Soul is the word fighting the concept of ego about selfhood defying other self interest and thereby falling into the rage and storm of heresy. It is about unity in diversity; it is about the soul. The ego is a consequence of material identification because of which people tend to oppose and shift the question of quilt in projection. The classical teaching of assertion is therefore to hearten one's own conscience for the sake of one's soul and to beware of egoism which hearten's one's material position.
The concept of ego is inevitable, as heartening one's material position is inevitable. It is by subduing the ego to the interest of the soul that the heretic -ism of the schizoid opposition is overcome. Thus a proper concept of assertion implies not to harm the interest of others. What we call others is then in need of further consideration.
w) Always try to be friendly and polite.
This is a common sense rule settling all human interaction to the norm of goodness. Animals bark and roar, human beings are supposed to stay reasonable, that is to say: stay friendly and polite asserting themselves verbally and physically. To the other sex this attention is known as courteousness. By no means this obliging was meant to be exclusively kept in the private sphere of sexual courting or as a gentlemen's agreement among men solely.
Suffering the burden of the ego this rule is often violated. One can feel a neurotic fear for obligations or derange making fuss in self conceit. Cramping on the ego people forget to be nice and lose touch by simply not paying enough attention. Everyone screaming for it and no one giving it is symptomatic for a neurotic society estranged from the interest of the soul. Not to suffer one's nerve's in this case implies that one needs the nerve to be nice and polite.
x) Stick to your decisions and keep your promises as much as possible.
Basic rule of heroism is to keep principle, to stay consequent, to persevere, stand firm. Not to be stupid and stubborn is the mission. Without the faculty of discrimination this is not possible. So one must keep one's mind to the matter. Not to lose your mind then is the mission. Following this continence is the essence of the true teaching. The question is not only how to contain, but also what to contain. Just to contain the mind does not imply the soul, just as just to contain the seed does not imply the soul either. Just to contain the love-making or spending of seed either. Of course only right decisions and realistic promises can be kept. If you want to stay right and realistic the so-called eternal values come in view. Shortly these are: compassion, truthfulness, cleanliness and non-possessiveness (pict.). Or in simple man's language: stay clean, don't lie, care for others and share. Upholding these basic values will make one steadfast and reliable.
y) Do the necessary and don't cause grief.
Beyond necessity there is a fool's paradise with holiday's called warfare. Why complicate the issue when simple is o.k. Why do we need more than one division of time as with the division of weeks not matching the division of month's e.g.. Why does the twentiest century cherish timezone's having abandoned the accord of true time? We don't need an other division of weeks set apart from the month, we don't need time-zone's. The answer to these questions is attachment. Because we are used to the old roman calender we continue thinking tradition is soul. This is not so. Soul means conscience, not blind obedience. Sometimes things have to be abandoned when we know and can do better. Above that something new does not imply that the old is forgotten. On a new calendar old divisions can be indicated and vice versa (see table). End of the twentiest century one is also still printing books while in the nineties enough computing power has been developed to publish virtual only.
Not to cause grief means not to violate traditions by abandoning them but to cherish alternatives that are better, that is to say more clear, truthful, simple and easy. When we have paid off to the old the new can be enjoyed. Alternative's are necessary to the freedom of choice. Without it no consciousness will be but captivity in attachment and the unreason of fall-down in ignorance. Cherishing the unnecessary the necessary tends to be obliterated. It is not forbidden to be a fool, it a shame and even dangerous to neglect what is necessary. Everyone agrees: freedom of choice is necessary ; it belongs to the method (pict.).
z) Make a rule, break a rule in guard of your integrity.
No set of rules lasts forever. Writing this set-up rules replaced each other. Each set pretends to be absolute and final, but the truth is different. The soul may be absolute and final, but it's material expression is not. It is in flux; it is subject to the reality of time (pict.)changing everything. So constant adaptation to time and circumstances is necessary. Therefore rules are broken and created, broken again and recreated. This is natural to the integrity of life and the person. Everything is subject to the conscientious of the adapting selfrealising soul. Certainty is found in the eternal values of clean truthful sharing and caring (pict.). As long as man exists these will be the foundation of human integrity and will be necessary although the interpretation will greatly differ. Forever.

v) Keep up your appearance: show your strength.
w) Go with the flow.
x) Refer minimally.
y) Goodness before passion.
z) Reinforce what you want.
a) Be sure.
To be sure is important. Even more important is to know what one is sure of. One can be sure of the temporal, one can be sure of the eternal. As a whole one can be sure of eternal time. Physical appearances one cannot be sure of. Although predictable to a degree one must confide in the guarantee of changing form more than confide, or pretend to confide, in the guarantee of the stability of form. Although quality is defined by the stability of form, only the guarantee of adaptation to time and circumstances will give confidence.
With living beings eternal time is known by the soul. With that to be sure of the soul is the prime management strategy. Once people are kept together in function to the soul, one can speak of a successful enterprise. The endeavor must define the relation to the soul. Endeavoring for optimal adaptation to time and circumstances can thus form a definition of ideal management. This means that in principle to each locality a different variation of the product, be it material or of the spirit, may develop. Such an ideal product is a do-it-your-self-adaptation kit. One can have a typewriter, but not the text. One can have the food, but not the setting of the table. One can have a text, but not the interpretation to the time of reading. Ultimately the soul is the last(ing) authority or product of the divine or divine of the product one can be sure of.
b) Avoid speculation.
Having to be sure of the soul, one has to be sure of its rule. To the eternal values of the soul there is a basic set of principles for management to which there must be no further speculation. Further speculation will nullify the guarantee of the soul so that the confidence in the product will dwindle. The basic values are expressed in the dictum: true sharing and caring is clean. From this dictum the basic principles ensue as expressed in the first commandment of all successful enterprise: with no intoxication (truth), nor damaging anyone (caring) and without gambling (sharing) one should attain to a legal love (cleanliness) of producing and consuming (pict.). So e.g. drinking alcohol, failing in compassion, betting on a horse while fornicating, is exactly the way to lose touch with the soul and ruin the enterprise. Therefore speculation about this command should be avoided. There can be varieties of interpretation from company to company, but the basic command does not tolerate any amendment. Having lost touch with the basic command necessitates penance and/or pilgrimage.
c) Check your work.
If the best product is peace, then war might be the work. This is a problem. The rule of maturity implies that no one has to check your work. Outside agents of control turn society in a school from which one never graduates. Teachers, people checking, have to work to be superfluous, without any consideration for their own position. Thus seen unemployment is the highest achievement. Without this society will be a hell of paranoia. In fact the definition of work is the issue here. Nobody is really unemployed. The term should be removed from the dictionary and be redefined as being unsalaried. Service to the soul, service to the material motive, and service without consent are the three types of work that keep man busy. People mess up unqualified on their own, need to be corrected to material standards and at last have to be saved by laboring for the soul. This is what the work of man is really all about. This is how people check theirwork and run society (pict.).
The mature individual incorporates the triple definition of work: from a positive identification with the authorities he works without further consent on his own trying not to mess up. Finding out he does, he corrects himself to the material standard known and enjoys the fruit of this war for result in the peace of his soulsaving strategies. A mature society should take this in account: understand people to live on their own accord, forgive them their offenses against the standard, and care for them with social security for the sake of peace admitting that not everyone always can work independently for the result. Keeping peace enjoying social security is just as important as fighting for a result or being your own boss. In fact healthy society is not possible cutting any of these three limbs.
d) In case of failure correct, excuse and plan for better.
Many people fail: they go sick, commit suicide, suffer an accident, drop out, suffer addiction or go crazy (pict.). As far as intelligence is lacking one can educate, guide and direct. As far as experience is lacking one can give the example, be the model. As far as the tendency for natural chaos is involved one can represent, uphold the order needed (pict.). Any way, failure must be recognized, excused and corrected. This is the foundation of society we cannot do without. One cannot all ride the exemplar horse or all be teachers, nor will just mending the broken order do. In the denial of failure all psychopathology is sprouting. Not properly identified with one's forefathers one might not understand why things do not work out properly: one does not always realize who one is, in whose shoes one is standing. Culture doesn't drop out of the sky but has a history of failure and success. With changing times cards are reshuffled and games must be played all over. That is what makes life interesting: history repeats itself, but not the same way. Man evolve into woman and vice versa. Roles can be fixed, but not the actors. To day one runs the company, tomorrow one has to start somewhere else as an apprentice.
Without the realization of failure, the excusing of failure and the will to correct we may speak of mental illness: the soul is not served by deceit and the psyche goes crazy in reflecting the fear of failure. A society accepting failure as a challenge for work in fact has no losers: only the occupation changes.
e) Always ask as much as possible.
One can ruminate and speculate, but lacking experience, the model or the right order one is lost without the sincere will to recognize an other man's authority. This is done questioning. It is not always possible to ask questions, but at least one quarter of society should live for answering questions from the rest. Intellectuals, bookpeople, apollonian academic's, priests, advisors and counselors, should guide, direct and settle order for governmental officiating, independent enterprising and salaried laboring people. Some must be the wisest. The spiritual orientation of mindpeople should cohere for the sake of the soul representing the basic values and the knowledge of their trade and specialization. Often they will answer inhibitively to discourage the material motive and promote the peace of their own business. But in fact there is need of a balance of material and spiritual interest (pict.). Although each culture has its own style of management, things do not matter without the spirit and the spirit makes no sense without the relative world.
f) Forgive and forget.
It is not so easy to forgive, nor can we forget so quickly with all kinds of damage done in view. It takes power to forgive and forget. Knowledge is power. The greatest crimes can be forgiven seeing criminals as victims of a failing system. You can recognize them even as hero's, fighting the system. In order to stop struggling over power, power is divided and counterbalanced. This is how power is maintained and how one can forgive and forget. Just as in the political field, the lead of society also goes in three. Man has to walk on two legs, and therefore three limbs of power are needed. Politics walk on the legs of religion and the intellect. Religion rules on the basis of alternating political and intellectual interest. The intellectual commune has to balance between religion and politics. In order to cook pasta, water, a pan and pasta are needed. So equally to have a sane and balanced society capable of forgiving and forgetting power must be divided and counterbalanced by the three limbs of politics, religion and science (pict.). One can't do without the other. Everything has been tried and all that has been proven is that it takes all kinds to make a healthy society. Hate everyone knows from the ego of his group of identification which always thinks it more easy to accuse than to repent. But anyone watching his legs may notice it takes two to tango and one to play the music. Don't shoot the pianist and let the couple dance. Then misery will be forgotten.
g) Know your territory: explore and discover.
It is easy to have a prejudice and live in contempt. Just not knowing what is going on or how things are, people living a one-sided strategy lose sight of the complete reality. Each concept of ego pretends to uphold the complete, but none does. There is order, beauty and consciousness in all around. Things are also in a constant flux. One has to keep up with the changes going on to have a clear judgment free from prejudice and contempt. For this constant exploration and discovery are required. One has to test one's suppositions and come to new ones. This trial and error attitude is typically scientific. The danger of this attitude is fostering ignorance: as if it is not known that everyone compensates for the loss of soul and goes for the pride of the ego. From the division of power one learns to recognize the limitations of each option: science tends to foolishness, religion tends to become irrational, and politics tend to abuse. None should be condemned though because of its limitations: scientific method (pict.), the wonders of the holy (pict.) and the discourse of the political (pict.) are absolutely needed. All these need careful exploration to find out how they work from time to time. Without discovering how things really are, how can one adapt and have a wise strategy of one's own?
h) Be as independent as possible.
One of the most important requirements of healthy business is independence. Each has a world of his own. Each world has its own priorities, rules, weaknesses (pict.), balances etc. To mind one's own business is basic to an enduring integrity of management. Drawing to outside authority and resource need careful scrutiny: is it really needed, and when needed how far can one go giving business out of hand? With great precaution these things should be tested to the same norm: are they independent themselves and do they tolerate your independence. There are many schools making pyramids of material as well as spiritual profit. God is not the same as the advantage of doubt though. God is the integrity and complete of nature and culture, not simply a strategy of profit to fool seekers. So religiously independence comes upon realizing the true nature of God. Politically and scientifically this is less clear as everything seems to stick together materially. Still no one can really manage without a conscientious soul. On the basis of mere material ego no stability can be found. So, for whatever strategy of power, be it in the name of God, the party,or the control over nature, a clear conscience is indispensable. For this every bug in one's behavioral repertoire should be beaten: without a clear mind, wasting energy on false excuses, no success with the management of the soul can be, and without a contented soul one is nothing but a slave of material nature. For this every mother needs a child, every boss an employee, every teacher a pupil and every student an example. Once the other is in the heart, independence can be.
i) Socialize.
Socializing is easily forgotten by the one's cherishing work before anything. Society has a rhythm of its own and because of that line one can easily refrain from socializing, which is a pity as on itself it was not so bad at all. With another division of the real solstice to solstice-year e.g. in 24 fifteen day periods counting twelve month's of thirty days and 48 weeks with five extra days equally spread but for the midst of summer, one can oppose with one's own rhythm and socialize without getting lost in the roman style of conquering by the old calender. Another trick is to check your schedule to the position of the sun by setting a watch on sun time (see table). This trick defeats the political domination of standard time. Socializing is not free from hypnotic attraction managing a rhythm of its own so that each system has its trick to nullify the other. The complexity of modern culture forms a challenge and with all experimenting socializing should not be sacrificed.
j) If critical about others always add the constructive remark.
One should not only be self critical, but also not spare others the truth of the second opinion. This is all very essential for social control and a dynamic society. To be a hypocrite makes a society of hypocrites and such a sham makes a downfall not always as peaceful as would be wished for. Thus wisdom commands this precocious and loving criticism nobody really wants to hear. But that's life and it can be endured by means of the constructive remark: 'you are o.k., but without that fancy necktie of yours I'd be happy recognizing your formal being'. Or: 'you're smelling too heavy darling, but going for a walk together I could endure'. Or to the system: 'it's a mean and bad old world, but at an other time it can be livable'. No one can live with the idea that he, she or everything is bad, but with a confession for the better people can find happiness. In this rule is thus contained: the end justifies the means. Not knowing how to live for a better world people swallow their criticism and fall in silence. In such a society nobody feels at home. No light, no future, no knowledge, no happiness. Not to fall in suicide and other self-defeating destruction (pict.) constructive criticism based on awareness of the ideal is a need.
k) Guard against temptations.
In business the dictum is business before pleasure. But the pleasure of working is not really understood with this. So, temptation refers more to the difference of attitude towards the pleasure principle in general. Lust and love can be differentiated by its regulations. Lust is primal and bears hardly any postponement and control. Love is loyal to the secondary and is willing to subject in goodness to schedule and conditions. From this the inevitable conclusion must be that to settle all desire in goodness is the solution for the problem of pleasure ruining business. Not only the pleasure principle is in danger of the irregular. Also the reality principle for managing business is under the threat of temptation. For an enterprising company it is difficult to be too strict in schedule: one has to be dynamic in order to adapt quickly. Things cannot always be settled by means of clockwork etc. Here the rule of cooperation is valid. The temptation to the reality principle is to get lost on a power trip of one's ego. To have the conscience and courage to share doubts and elation with coworkers will tune one down to the level of reality needed to survive in business (pict.).
l) Do not worry about your image.
It is important to be consistent in one's appearance and character. But the reality of the person is dynamic: appearance is an adaptation and adaptations change to time and circumstances. Also character is dynamic: one can develop from strong to weak and vice versa. A die-hard may give in for a while and someone easy going can pick up an old rule forgotten. With all these dynamics of life it is clear that one should not worry about one's image as it goes. What is important is the cosmic consciousness of true selfrealization. Serving the reality of the soul anything can happen: life becomes an adventure where old certainties are exchanged for unlimited choice. Of course one cannot be The Lord Himself and enjoy forever the bliss and knowledge of the cosmic soul of the complete whole. We'll have to live by the small and modest ecstasy's of our meditations, love and compassion and are thus bound to our choices. Complete freedom and choice is therefore never the case.
Worry one should always for the sake of a clear conscience in the first place. A forsaken duty can bring disaster. Clinging to one's preferred image can not only corrupt the soul for the sake of appearance, but can also ruin one's sanity and the whole of society. If some leaders in the past wouldn't have persisted with their false pride in view of their own failure, the world would have been much better of. Because of persisting with the false pride of an image in failure a lot of honorable manhood seems to have lost its image for ever. Cultures exercising jealousy always fall down while friends sacrificing their image temporarily for the sake of the truth and the soul always will find themselves maintained in the loyalty of the authentic order.
m) Stick to the role you're playing.
As one is sticking to one's duty one must also be consequent to the role one is playing. Problems arise when roles are in conflict. A man rarely can manage his wife the way he manages his business. One compensates the other as well as change in the one relation leads to changes in the other relation too. So, everyone is in search of his and her integrity. To keep an image, o.k., to play a role o.k., but to stay integer, that is a different thing. Every man realizes he is not God. Sooner or later cracks appear, temptations win over, and the front is lost. Thus the whole business can be lost and no role be continued. But it must not be so.
To any play there is a director and a script, a beginning and an end. Not only can the role be played although one is not holy, also the business of the play can be kept although one's role is over. The director can forgive the actor for losing front, the play can be indifferent to the one's playing. From this can be derived that enterprising requires management aware of the need of tolerance as no one is fully experienced from the beginning. Also learned is to work from a clear management plan. There must be some kind of script, bible or bookcase in control of the play going on. As stated earlier: a society without a clear concept of formal (liberating) order (pict.) is on the way of selfdestruction.
To role-playing there is a beginning and an end. Living for the soul one can mistake to be physically eternal. This is egotism which also ruins the company as the elder do not step aside for the younger. To change roles by tradition is just as important as keeping them. One implies the other in fact. Thus the dictum must be: you're always welcome to start and always free to leave. Nothing as bad as inaccessibility and the idea that one couldn't be missed. From this point of view a correct formal order always provides for the different stages of life.
n) Seek your identity in your status and occupation.
Without knowledge of the soul, conscience doesn't work properly and formal order is not recognized nor developed. From this state of uncertainty compensations develop in search of identity. All kind of weird culture can thus exist, some being more harmful than the other. The denominator of these subcultures is the neurotic search for identity and the non bona fide experiment with authority and identification. Great disaster follows the despair of collectively failing to manage this neurotic, temporary adaptation in absence of formal liberation. One could be liberated, but finds oneself dropping out, one could be formal, but finds oneself being bound in cultures of compensation. Celebrations being penance and penance being disease, such a society cannot find happiness or any hope for the future. This is a dangerous condition.
To escape from the greatest danger some kind of step should be made towards the authentic order defining the identity (pict.) of status and occupational orientation (pict.). As known this is always very near and not far away from everyday reality. To be a simple workman should be a recognized and respected social position. Trade should not be condemned as being bad because of the profit motive. Rulership of the military, civil or noble kind, should be condoned as a practical necessity despite of its demoniac propensities. At last one should always try to respect the spiritual and scientific authorities, however far away from every day reality their judgment might be. Status of being married, being single active or withdrawn or being wisdom on the loose, should not prevail over one another. With these directives in mind a reasonable, orderly society with clear identities should be possible.
0) Be consequent.
Not to be completely consequent to one's image or the temporary of one's roles, still one must be consequent to the regulative principles as derived from the eternal values of sharing, caring, cleanliness and truth. The level of respect progressing on these principles can differ widely according to status, orientation, or stage of life. At one extreme sharing can mean to sacrifice everything for the community only, while at the other extreme one can sacrifice everything for the sharing of independence. The same way caring can mean to have a society providing for all the needs of mutual care at the one hand, while at the other extreme everyone would be successful in caring for oneself only not providing for anything else. Also cleanliness can mean all to be total abstainers having children from the laboratory only, while at the other extreme all sex would be o.k. as long as it is practiced safely within the bounds of law. As for the truth one can have a society free from all drugs, nicotine, alcohol, coffee, tea, chocolate or whatever intoxication, while at the other hand can be chosen for limits set by police-order and excise. Somehow though these values must be exercised. Most of the time reality takes the form of moderation concerning intoxication, preservation concerning the sexual, regulation as far as financial speculation is concerned, and compensation concerning compassion in danger with e.g the eating of meat (pict.). Forgetting about them is a falldown of general discipline and a threat to the continence of culture.
p) Be always prepared to give up material purposes.
This is a rule of attitude. It means everybody can do any kind of thing as on the outside one cannot see what principle is working at the inside. A criminal person can be an undercover agent, while a mental patient can be a scientist studying the psychology in participating observation. Decisive is the attitude of willingness to give up the material purpose for the sake of the principle. All major religions are based on this rule: the sinners continue to sin and the fallen continue to fall, as long as the Lord is as graceful to forgive all kinds and variations thus led to the benches of penance. One weakness regretted is thus worth more than one strength denied (pict.)This rule is also the secret formula for progress in general (pict.), material as well as spiritual. Prepared to give up the material, the material is done more justice still treating it, while exchanging the motive of fruitive action for the motive of the maintenance of the soul also reveals the hidden resources of intelligence.
q) Always defend your honor.
The rule is clear, but not the honor. It needs to be defended. Reality is that no material norm of honor will endure. So, choosing for this or that will always lead to a fall-down. One has to choose for this and that, keeping the assertion-rule, stating that confession to something can not be repression of something else. There is always the tendency to identify with any new material outlook. This is the deluding quality of material nature. If honor is taken to depend on this or that, having a fall down as a consequence, the process is called false identification. Honor should always be defended with the interest of the soul in mind. To prevent war one has to safeguard against the repression that comes with the delusion of choosing; it is thus about creating choice, not about enforcing one or another choice. Anyone taking a look at nature will see the reality of this truth (pict.).
Problem with the defense of honor is the identification. Choosing for consciousness, what to hold on to? It is the eternal problem of the form of God not being God. Quickly a golden calf is created which is indeed a form of God. But forgetting the commandments was not what was meant. It is not bad to create a form of God, it is bad to go wild with idolatry. God is money, but money is not God. God is time, but worshiping clockwork doesn't keep the devil away. So, concerning time and money differences of form may be, but cannot repress one another. Concerning time, different types of time can be, but the people, free men, will decide for them self what time will suit them best. All that needs to be done is to defend the honor of freedom. Working for the freedom of choice there is no falsehood of honor; it is the definition of the post-modern. Whether any restoration will take place is up to the democratic choice of the people.
r) Silence is golden.
Material activity defies the mindful. After thinking there should be action, but after action, there should be rethinking. To err is human. Therefore silence is golden and speaking silver. Without choosing the silent world of thought where only the inner voice is to be heard at first and at last, there is no repentance possible and no correction either. This is a disaster that cannot be. The consequence of speaking and acting without prior and posterior reflection is to be caught in a spiral of downfall leading to war and destruction. The essential drive of the silver threat is ignorance. For the other one keeps up the appearance of wisdom, but having grown into a dictator (missing the scripture, the association in the spirit and the inner teacher) the destruction is a fact. Creation without reflection leads to destruction That is the true meaning of golden silence (pict.). The monks have always been praying until the politicians had freaked out and repented.
Ignorance means falling short of knowledge, as the pride of the things known already won't do. History always teaches the same lesson: a new world is inevitable, but the bewilderment in the silver cold of false identification always takes place. In order to prevent mass opposition and armed conflict parliamentary discussion, opposition and downfall of democratic leaders form the solution. New things are created and promoted. Old things have to be defended anew. This is the modern - post modern - restoration - cycle. It is a natural law: mutation - coexistence - reintegration in repeat. The fittest survive and they turn out to be an all-purpose design: complexity increases. This is evolution. Thus people do not work on sundays, nor on saturdays while expanding to an alternative scheme might even add days of (media-ar-)rest, study and festivity by further regulation (see tables).
s) Do not complain more than necessary.
To complaining the first question is: does one have the right to complain? There is a difference between hysteria and conveyance. The hysteric is in want of attention, but doesn't convey what the real message is. This is pathological. The true complaint is the one conveying the interest of the soul. The hysteric pleading for the attachment to the temporary of this or that is an unrighteous complainer. In stead of acting themselves the ones neurotic about the inability to endure the freedom of choice, can e.g. accuse and project. The others are sometimes blamed and/or even called God, just to escape the self-responsible.
Complaining, the want of the soul seems to be getting attention. Of course it is the soul, the reflection of righteous selfremembrance that is in need of attention, but we always fall in the same pit. We always end up stealing the show and repenting after the party is over. It is simply very difficult not to get caught in a one-way street which can be 'holy' itself, but turns out to be the devil undoing the rest of holiness (pict.). Thus the conclusion must be that the complaint for the sake of the movement inwards has all right whereas the complaint for mere attention is to be recognized as unrighteous. To righteous complaining there is a complexity of cause and effect meaning work in some or another way. The beginning of that work can be bitter to its material effect: the material is in disorder. Accepting the symptoms, the treatment leading to the restoration of order gives way to the peace-making soul in healthy touch with material nature: the consequence is taken, the sickness cured and the freedom of choice restored. Duties done do not only cure from material chaos, also mental disease is alleviated. As long as the doctor is representing the interest of the soul the disease of complaining can be cured. A good physician will always say: I can help and promote, but the curing is done by the soul itself.
t) In want of help seek the bona fide.
Because of not knowing a honest person will always be a seeker. Nobody is the complete of selfremembrance, since nobody can claim to be the true self or God. Psychologically it is even simply stupid to claim to have realized one's ideal self. To a sane person there is always a new horizon. Therefore it is always a step by step towards, and never reaching completely. It is the paradox of the hare not able to overtake the turtle: he can never cover more than half the distance. Materially it is nonsense, but to the soul there is no doubt.
In search one is in want of the bona fide which is then defined as expertise in touch with the soul. In material knowledge one might know more than the holy man, but a computer is not a holy man. One can be informed about the soul by teacher, books and company, but information without communion is empty. The false prophet will plea for the falsehood of material form: worship this, love those, go there, keep that, etc. The bona fide preacher will liberate for another communion: he'll go to heaven, leave you the responsibility and work from inside the soul. He didn't built churches, temples or sites of pilgrimage. He built heart, spirit and soul: this is to hearten, this is the spiritual kingdom, this is the soul that is in heaven. It is always the material trick of our own false preaching spoiling the message, turning God into the opposite and rendering the believer heresy in stead of truth. So all schools called bona fide are nuts to crack: inedible without the firm decision to go for the palatable inside knowledge of the soul and throw away the outer covering. The outer appearances can be purely demoniac as a warning against demons not capable of bearing their own image. In search of the bona fide to this rule cannot be said where to go or whom to consult. Wherever one goes, whomever one meets: one always has to return home. And home is where the heart is. As long as the house is cleaned, the heart is purified by the command of selfremembrance, one will find one's independence and responsibility back.
u) Do not discriminate to gender, religion, political preference, race, status or occupation.
Of course one needs to discriminate in the sense of being aware of difference. Even two identical molecules take another place in space-time (pict.). It is not the defiance of the command of consciousness telling to see the differences. Just as one has to remember that soul is selfremembrance, while not all selfremembrance would serve the soul, to this as well is to be known that seeing differences to the interest of consciousness does not imply that making a difference is in defense of consciousness. As with the defense of honor one must be interested in not losing one's mind identifying falsely. Despite of gender-identity, the importance of one's own racial culture, religion and whatever of material form, the reality of the soul, the interest of conscientious selfremembrance does not change. It is not only the interest that doesn't change, it is the ultimate reality of the soul that doesn't. To mistake the form of selfremembrance for the goal that is the self remembering is the definition of bewilderment.
v) Keep up your appearance: show your strength.
Being consequent, enduring, holding on to the principle of the soul, must not mean to fall in material neglect. In fact in the complex of cause and effect, one is obliged to dutiful activity in order to accomplish the meditation of selfremembrance. Only with all respect the soul is found, not with the excuses of neglect which can never make peace with the material world and thus not contain. So, once having stolen the show, one has to continue, but how? The secret answer of know how is not to betray. Betraying one did, but betraying cannot continue. Just as the dying of what was betrayed, also the traitor has to die. The question is thus how to retreat without losing the appearance. In the evolution of the soul detachment is the mechanism with the career of realigning being the continuance of the show. This can only be with the development of strength. Withdrawing one's energies from the concept of material possessiveness necessitates the reintegration of bodily and mental strength. Old integrations reappear that were long forgotten and new capacities develop in the transformation of the show that realigns. The secret of knowing how is found in the realigning of the old ego interest with the new interest of the order of the soul. The show continues, the appearance differs. From alienated one becomes aligned.
w) Go with the flow.
Naturally the flow goes down from the mountains to the sea. The same way the flow of life is from heaven to earth. One has to come down from one's narcistic pedestal and descend into the world of compassion. In heaven compassion is not needed. No grace no love, no love no God, no God no life. Thus one comes down. With the willing of this the downfall of the soul is understood again with the small difference of experience. Passion is the danger of the downward action and even the madness of indolence is there. Not willing to act makes the false passion and not willing to move makes the madness. Passion would be about love: the world a woman, the spirit a man and the man has to love the woman. Equally madness would have an object: I'm mad about my darling but not crazy because I'm missing her. So as the story goes the man manufactures himself the object of love and madness. This is primal. It is the nature of man to be a jealous potter-monkey always mad about the unattainable ideal of the ever-happy and always being passionate about the interests of the world.
As any man knows who has a woman: one must comply. Not only is she a living person, the world also is a thing alive, not a box of blocks to meddle with unmeditated. Therefore one has to go with the flow. In the downward stream one can see in peace everything standing still only if one also goes down. Swimming against will give collision with the double of speed. The vessel to go down-stream with is the boat of rules. These rules need no preaching just as the boat needs no oar. Just the rudder or peddle of timing is needed not to get caught by sand-banks or in whirlpools.
x) Refer minimally.
A ship needs an anchor, so minimal reference is necessary. The problem comes when the ship has a thousand anchors of which always some are thrown out. Thus one gets nowhere. Reference means the plant having a root. From a basic ground the reality (pict.) came into existence. But a rose cannot be a tree suddenly. In order to stay a rose it must be loyal to its root. Asking a rose where it's beautiful smell came from it cannot refer to the tree either. Therefore, although we have a garden full of reference, still there can only be righteous reference to the real root, not the root likewise growing in the same garden.
The apollonian root of the message revealed contends with the basic attitude of value-free science: it is about the description of human reality without confessing to another set of values but the apollonian. Apollonian values are the values of personhood in the divinity of wisdom. It is not so much about its counterpart: the dyonisian of celebration. Nor is it from the amor-ous of making love or the psyche-ological of selfreflection. The apollonian is about the values of truth, conciousness and the beauty of bliss; about the enduring, knowing and happy. Because of amorousness the psyche suiffers ignorance: it does not reflect the answers of wisdom, just the questions. The apollonian constitutes the answer to the psychological problem and figures for the sake of eternity, goodness and the happiness of beauty as the counterpart and true wealth (pict.) of dyonisian hedonism.
y) Goodness before passion.
Passion is a natural consequence of life; a mode of nature (pict.). The world is tempting, the heart yearning and the mind taken away. This is passion; it is cherished and promoted as the essence of life and creation and no one could live without. It may all be so, from the indolent of ignorance the responsible attitude of passion cannot be denied to be the better. But passion cannot be a goal in itself. Passion leads to crime and war too. It can be recognized as the healthy resentment against passive inertia and its consequent madness. Still on itself it cannot purify from the contamination of madness: mindfulness is sacrificed in the name of love and without the inhibitive force this runs into warfare sooner or later. Therefore God, and the culture of divine inhibition, is defined as the absolute of goodness, the devil being the personified reality of not willing to be so. Goodness is the basic character of soul while the basic character of ego is known as passion. To passion there is always the material motive as to the soul no other value is really meaningful but the continence of goodness. Anger as the shade of passion, thus seen is a form of ignorance, while the infatuated goodness of attachment can be recognized as likewise growing in the same garden. Truth, compassion and austerity always are the secondary values of the soul subdued by the command of eternal goodness.
z) Reinforce what you want.
In order to reinforce with e.g. money or other privileges and forms of recognition one must know what one is serving so that it is known what is wanted. The democratic principle in itself is useful politically, but in order to take a lead it does not suffice. One cannot bluntly serve the ignorance of the masses and expect an orderly and righteous peaceful world from it. The democratic is ruled by the pleasure principle of the dyonision motive: they, just, want to party. The reality principle of the apollonian commands the lead of society its values (pict.). Reinforcement thus must be given to the evidence of the basic qualities of the soul: does one endure: reward. Does one support the happy: reward. Does one transcend: reward. Without this clarity of reinforcement the reality of soul can never become prominent as the purpose of servitude in society. People causing grief, maintaining but a flickering of goodness and whose awareness is rarely above the waist cannot be rewarded above a fair standard of social security to keep them from falsifying authority. However, basic adaptation must unconditionally be rewarded and given the same status of membership in society. Peace-keeping people living on social security should not be called a failure of work, to say unemployed, but must be treated as equal members of society although not with the highest esteem for their minimal to zero material contribution. Tables turn and denying this game of determining who is contributing to what, is more costly than all social security awards ever given together. Stealing the honor of likewise adapted people is just like murder or social suicide with no other consequence but a civil or international war of people against people.

z) Respect her advice.
a) Give up selfgratification.
Living independently one can become egoistic without knowing it. Still depending on parents, living with them, one can also become entangled in the social structure of the family which will not directly be in need of strangers. To begin a relationship by starting to date someone brings about great changes in life. Any small change of habit might lead to a completely different life. Also choosing for this or that person can determine the course of one's life completely. To give up living for oneself alone means that self gratification within a family or to oneself independently is curbed. One has to accept to take the other person in account. One can feel forced to give up self gratification to a degree, or one can do it by free will thinking it more wise to stop thinking of one's family or one's own interest only. Anyhow not doing so and clinging to the old habit can maintain the synergy of the old situation discovering that the date doesn't work out as hoped for, meanwhile not really understanding why it doesn't.
Another aspect is the fact that changing selfgratification from selfhood or familysystem to another person might run into a disappointment if the old problem of being alone or caught in a family is simply transferred to the other relation. Only the form of selfgratification has changed, but not one's life. The motivation for a date can be driven by the longing of the soul for liberation from loneliness and attachment. Liberation is in fact found, as far as dating is concerned, in the prospect of service to the continence of a more mature position as head of a new family or friend in another association. But marriage or friendship itself is no guarantee against loneliness and attachment. The expected liberation can be another prison of enslavement. Dating might be seriously hindered or corrupted with the disbelief in the prospect of marriage or common friendship. Marriage or enduring association is religiously a holy sacrament that must scientifically be understood. Life means one has to mature and become independent. This independence is never found in the slavery of material service to a family, a single mans situation or a social group of another kind. All material activity is in need of a higher principle to be acceptable as a form of liberation. This higher principle is materially defined as culture above the private, more natural drives. To the spirit this higher principle is defined as soul above ego. (pict). To have a meaningful date implies to be firm in one's decision to emancipate from the lower drives of gratifying one's senses to the higher sublimation of a selfrealizing soul. Whether one is liberated in service to a new family, association of friendship or a more independent social position is of less importance.
b) When losing control: check the rules.
Dating one explores new relations. This can mean one has to reckon with unexpected things, influences, lifestyles, associations, policies, creeds and the like. Because of this being possessed by the fascination of something new one can easily forget one's own book of rules. This can be refreshing and a good school to learn from, but it can also mean one loses control. The family may panic and sabotage the new as a threat and also one's independence can be seriously resisting against the new influences. Of general importance is to maintain the science of the soul, which is a very personal thing. The rules to be checked are given by experience and not by a book. In this case other rules are important as they form a threat to the familiar one's. losing control means one has to amend to a familiar rule or to adopt an other rule. In order to keep control always an other approach of the rules is the result: one is in evolution to something like the Absolute Rule. One can try to master it with satisfying the body, going for the mind, feeding the intelligence, or going for the soul of a clear conscience. The Absolute Rule is of the latter position: everything of control evolves from the conscientious selfremembrance of the soul.
c) Always try to take initiative.
A woman can afford to be more passive than a man. This is biologically conditioned. Likewise a man tends to take over the situation. This is all purely genetic conditioning with the ultimate purpose of the sexual act. Culturally these tendencies are watered down: a woman should be responsive and show herself to a degree and a man should realize her intentions not to be discarded as a inconsiderate male chauvinist. Both positions need to compromise in order to balance culture with nature. So whether viewed from the male or the female position, both parties always should try to be of initiative with the male being a bit more active in the dating process than the female. With this the male will always run a greater risk of being cheated or suffering the illusion of being wanted. Therefore it is considered more shameful to a woman not to be a virgin than for a man not to be so.
Not finding a virgin in life a man bound to a culture of free sex can find one advantage though: one is more obliged to the selfrealizing soul as the chance for a lasting relationship diminishes with the increase of the importance of oneself continuing. On the other hand is stressing for selfrealization without the concept of soul an invitation to promiscuity: from ego alone less endurance and stability is expected. Having had different partners driven by the necessity of initiative on itself is not so much an objection as missing the lead of conscience.
d) Be an optimist.
With all material endeavor things go wrong. Going for the perfect matter of this or that partnership will always disappoint: the other woman is always more attractive as the unknown is attractive itself. Some people suppose it is wise to keep some secrecy to the partner: be a bit mysterious. But that will not prevent the partner from running after the unknown even more unknown. What one is always looking for is liberation and selfrealization. False liberation is running from one responsibility to an other in the illusion of the unknown and new. False selfrealization is to mistake the outer result for the inner attainment. The ever new is Time itself making every day new. No fix on any person will be stronger than the fix on the new itself, nor will any fix of selfrealization be more real than the fix to the witnessing soul in regard of the changes of form. From this is learned that to be content with your first love or to put up and abide by a later partner will give the peace and consciousness needed to realize the higher importance of liberation and selfrealization to the Soul of Time.
e) Ask what she wants, know her and be attentive.
Mother nature is poetry: everything is in rhyme and harmony going for the truth of peaceful coexistence. Delusion is caused by the fear of death identifying with the body: nature can devour your body, everything must die. Going for the soul frees from the fear of death, making love stronger than lust against regulation. For animals that is called instinct and for humans it is called law and order. Her conflict is always about maintenance: will her nature maintain with the threat of death. Woman being more earth-bound than men because of their sexually receptive attitude depend on the initiative of men. If a man does not ask her, know her or attends to her needs, the game of society as a whole is lost. On the lower level of animal nature this is clear enough. For the higher of culture things get confused: men must become like woman and vice versa. The material word becomes feminine as a whole and the Lord of Time is to be represented as the male initiative or mover of the universe. Forgetting the sexual men and woman both become human, loving the world in respect of the order of time. The order keeps the soul and gives security of maintenance. Sexually one has to go for that order, being more obliged by the physical workload of service to the order while nonsexually one simply has to accept things as they are, serving and mending the existing order less obliged materially. That is what she wants: his initiative and her natural order, to which men opt their alternatives of management. If men are loyal to her order, then the soul will keep men from conflict. War as such is a failure of agreement about justice and the form that order should take.
Dating her means one has to go for her and respect her, ask her what she wants, learn to know if her wishes match with one's personal order and be attentive as far as it goes. In fact men always have to desire to harmonize with her as her nature is always moved by time. The same way she always has to desire to feel to time as time is managed by constructs of manhood.
f) Be careful with patronizing.
To be a customer of, be treated with condescension, to be under the control of the government or a patron must be considered with the greatest care. The care of a father is important; nor personally, nor collectively this should be denied. Still the rule of independence tells us the mature is not under patronage but selfresponsible. Each may learn from an other person. Each may profit from governmental support. As a way of becoming this is accepted but as a way of being one should not betray one's dependence. The government depends on the people, just as the people depend on the government. No mature person is fully independent. The master depends on the servant too. The salesman depends on the customer. The mature option is an attitude reflecting the loyalty and sanity of respecting the ideal. But to pretend to have reached it is to be considered the most common lie. It is a basic psychological conflict: the relationship with the 'father', whether it is father time, the spouse, the biological father, the priest, the Lord, the government or a teacher or a boss, equals the relationship with the soul. The ego of material identification must align to the soul to free itself from the neurotic doubts and fears of denying the reality of time (pict.). The reality of time is the absolute patronage over all matter we can never escape from. Denying this reality (pict.) is the real problem. In need of structure men quarrel and wage war's forming ego's of patronizing culture each claiming the absolute of the soul. But the absolute of the soul is the complete whole of all soul, matter, work (pict.) and time together. It is not just this Lord or that God. Nor just this mortal or that one or my matter only. Nor is it only fruitive work or standard time. It is the self ànd its ideal, it is the matter here ànd there, it is you ànd me, it is natural time ànd cultural time. This all together we tend to reduce and oppose patronizing calling the other less without us... The answer to this problem is found in the conscientious relating to the true self by lawfully defying possessiveness, emancipating our concept of work and employment, and managing the complete of time in a more sophisticated form than just standard time and the roman calendar.
Dating a woman one tends to forget these issues, but still she will only respect if he knows to be modest to an ideal, is not possessive, emancipated in his idea of what working would be, and realized in managing cultural as well as natural time (pict.) She represents the flowering world and he the control of time, while in reality her intelligence is in the sequential and his in the mastery of matter. Each represents the trade to emancipate to. She is proud of his mastery over time and he is proud of her management of matter. Without him she cannot really manage and without her he cannot really master time. Man and woman are each others patron but should be teachers to themselves. The masculine and feminine are also represented by the marriage of the two halves of the brain specialized in serial and parallel, time- and space control.(pict.) Selfrealization is to emancipate in this latter process of 'dating' and 'relating', married or not, of cultural time versus natural time.
g) Be merciful.
Serving the senses only and forgetting about the soul mercy disappears. That is egoism: no mercy. Intelligence is mercy. It is in your own interest to hearten the interest of the other. It is the cornerstone of all cultured people. It defines employment, economy, welfare and peace. Young and primitive cultures wage wars in the delusion of ownership while ownership only makes sense with the eternal value of sharing. Only if the private sphere is founded in sobriety (a bed, a chair, a window) can the rest of cultural glory be enjoyed. If everything is called for as a personal possession, no one will own much and culture will be inaccessible. No one owns the whole world, nor its cultures. Man can only pray for free access apart from a simple place to withdraw privately. With the concept of work and making money emancipated to the fruitless and incarcerated too, no one really works or makes money, nor is without function or provision. It all amounts to the reality of serving the order of the complete of time, matter, work and soul.
Any relationship (with a woman) is founded on the sharing of possessions and the sobriety of one's private. Dating one shares downtown and withdraws private. One works for the private of keeping (by abridging) the distance, but one dates to share the world and be present in person. In marriage this is also the success formula for wealth and progress. Together one also works for the private and making a distance to outsiders bearable, while socializing together can only be by going out and share the world being present in person. The tendency to deal with everything in the private sphere is certainly unwise as always a retreat from the world is needed to keep sanity. Overindulgence in the private sphere can lead to unwanted separation and divorce because of the eternal cry for freedom always present in each mature being. To be outgoing is a definition of mercy, while private unlimited defines egoism.
h) Respect her freedom.
She gives room to manhood, just like mother earth being permissive to the cultural experiment. Still, like nature going wild in storm and earthquake, she will demand her freedom too. One may suffer the illusion of a perfectly nice woman that would always abide by the wishes of the man. But that is just the sexual attitude. She is just as well a mature soul as he is, with the same tendency to dominate, manipulate, lie, and discard as he. Of course one can have a contract to divide the duties and set the limits of control over one another, but such agreements do not imply that she won't claim her freedom to amend to the contract or simply tear it up. The guarantee, the certainty is not found in this or that relationship. The certainty everybody is searching for is that of service. A person who has found his favorite way of serving the order of society has attained to certainty, whether supported or hindered by a relationship or not. To the concept of freedom certainly the notion of penance belongs. The world, nor the lady will always welcome one's service. One has to be able to forbear without confirmation or reinforcement for a long time. This is difficult and the inability to do so is defined as sociopathy, stalking and demoniac. If she, or the greater of society doesn't care, disappointment can lead to anger. Without the willingness and ability to do penance, which is nothing but continuing life without further appreciation regretting one's failures, one's whole life can be destroyed. Becoming a nuisance, a stalker or a psycho will certainly spoil the chance of returning. Important for being able to do penance is to understand why things go wrong. One can be hindered by one's own character, by the ways of society and the direct environment and one can be hindered by nature at large (pict.). One can have many theories of attribution why the continence of service was lost and regret would be needed. But the lesson is always that of maturity: a pure soul does not really depend on any one but the true self. Seeing all adversity as a challenge to selfrealization things come together some day. Many talents can develop and many ways tried. It is the nature of the world to present its alternatives by turn and make new constellations of reality all the time. Thus dating implies from the beginning that in respect of her freedom one's own selfrealization must be remembered.
i) Do not expect her to live up to your expectations.
This rule is similar to the previous one, but not the same. Expectations form a chapter in the book of psychology of their own. Fixed to certain role-playing people lose their freedom captured by their own desire to be someone. Life become's hell having turned into a servant of other people instead of being a liberated soul in service of the order of God. Of course the order of God is not without others so that serving others is not on itself the problem, nor as having expectations with them would always be a problem. People also enjoy building high expectations from a trip to the planets e.g..
The problem lies in the underlying order to which there is no single solution. Only a diversity of solutions can be with no expectancy of one dominating the other. Solutions can take the form of rebellion, conformation or reform by consent. In fact all three together work out properly: conforming to a forgotten option of order one rises against existing order to reform it by consent. The art of the revolution lies in the ability to complement and not repress what was deficient before. As time learns: one only has to accept the new not forgetting the old. Astronomically: the planets
