Counting the Days

1979-82

Oil on wood

21 3/4 x 25 1/4 in. (55.2 x 64.2 cm)

This postmodern creation dedicated to the counting of days shows a variety of dark and colored dots which could be considered the days the title refers to. These days are in the shambles: they are chaotic, are hardly contained in the frame and have nothing do do with the classical representations of time in the form of naturalistic scenes. We have entered the era of deconstruction, the abstract and chaotic of time. The promise is: nothing will hold, the expression of color, identity, the instantaneous, spontaneous and emotional is more important than this or that natural representation.
